Compound comparison

BPC-157 vs KPV

BPC-157 and KPV are both discussed for the gut, one as a repair peptide and one as an anti-inflammatory fragment of alpha-MSH.

This page is an educational comparison, not medical advice, and it does not recommend either compound. Regulatory status differs between them; see the table below.

BPC-157 and KPV are compared because both are studied in gut-related research. BPC-157 is a synthetic 15-amino-acid peptide derived from a protein in human gastric juice, studied for tissue repair. KPV is a three-amino-acid fragment from the end of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH), studied for anti-inflammatory activity. Neither is FDA-approved.

Key differences

BPC-157 is studied for enhancing fibroblast activity, collagen synthesis, angiogenesis and growth factor activity. KPV is studied for entering cells and reducing pro-inflammatory signaling through the NF-kB pathway, keeping the anti-inflammatory core of alpha-MSH without its pigmentation activity.

BPC-157 is an FDA Category 2 substance and is on the World Anti-Doping Agency's prohibited list. KPV is not FDA-approved for any human use and is sold only as a research chemical.

Both have minimal reported side effects, mainly injection site irritation. For KPV, long-term human safety data is limited.

What the research covers

Both evidence bases are mainly preclinical. BPC-157 has extensive animal and laboratory research on tissue repair with limited human trials. KPV's anti-inflammatory findings come from animal models of colitis and skin inflammation, and human clinical data is limited.
